A few weeks ago, we posted on our social media accounts (Facebook here, Instagram here) after traveling to the Florida panhandle in the wake of Hurricane Michael in order to provide assistance to some of our friends who live in Panama City and to take aid to others.  We also mentioned at the time that the CEO of Tactical Tea Company served as the City of Mexico Beach’s City Administrator for seven-and-a-half years after being honorably discharged from the Air Force at Tyndall Air Force Base.

To say we have strong ties to the devastated areas is a huge understatement.

What we saw while there:  Mexico Beach, Panama City, and Port St. Joe are utterly devastated.  As most of you have heard, Mexico Beach was nearly wiped from the map and estimates are that it will take 18 to 24 months to rebuild from Hurricane Michael.  Additionally, they have issues to overcome which will long outlast the destructive effects of the storm.  Panama City, Port St. Joe, Callaway, Parker, and other communities never mentioned by the national media are destroyed to the point of being unrecognizable.  While much of the country have moved beyond Hurricane Michael, the people living in the affected communities are struggling now–and will continue to suffer for the foreseeable future.
