For some people, a day doesn’t even start without a cup of warm tea, while for others iced tea is a perfect drink to beat the heat in summers. No matter what kind of tea you like– hot or cold, green or black, you cannot overlook its widespread popularity. But apart from its comforting flavour and aroma, there are some health benefits of drinking tea every day.

If you are someone who drinks tea regularly there are high chances that you might prefer to drink your tea in a certain way. Some people like to drink a hot cup of tea after returning from the office, while others might like it chilled and with a lot of ice cubes. Each one has its pros and cons.

Tea is known for its antioxidant properties. But the amount of antioxidants that make into your body depends on the type of leaves you use and how hot your brew it. The maximum amount of antioxidants are found in white tea and that too when it is left to steep for a long time. This is also common in green tea. So if you want to maximize antioxidant intake, then it is a good idea to infuse it in cold water.

Hot Tea May Increase Cancer Risk

Drinking excessively hot tea is linked with cancer. As per a 2018 study, drinking hot tea may increase your risk of cancer. The chances of developing this disease are higher in people who smoke and drink. Another study published in the International Journal of Cancer in 2019 revealed that drinking tea immediately after boiling may increase the risk of developing esophageal cancer.

Iced Tea is Good for Obese People

Unsweetened and iced tea is beneficial for people trying to lose weight. This may even be good for obese people suffering from the problem of hypertension and other cardiovascular issues.

Other Benefits of Drinking Iced Tea

Tea does not only contain antioxidants, but it is also loaded with other nutrients. As per science, if you want to maximise those benefits, then start drinking cold or iced tea. Cold tea contains extra bioactive compound like gallic acid and epigallocatechin gallate.
